Bros of Ladakh

As you're going down your Ladakh road

you'll get a lot of encouragement from your friendly local bros. As in "Bro! Time is money, but life is precious!"

But these are no popped-collar, cowrie-shell, Dave Matthews bros. Here we are talking about the Border Roads Organization, who has kindly taken it upon themselves to post cute rhyming driving tips:

as well as shameless self-promotion:

and, well, the occasional head-scratcher:

  2. Wait, those last two are not confusing but brilliant! Quite clever, if you ask me.

    (1) BE MR LATE THAN LATE MR
    is
[Better to] BE [called] MR LATE THAN [to be called] [the] LATE MR [Tasse]
    in other words,
It's better to get the nickname of "Mr. Late" than to have people speak of you as 'the late so-and-so', which they would do if you are DEAD.

    (2) DARLING I LIKE YOU BUT NOT SO FAST
is something that a timid/slightly coy girl (think 50's movies) might say to her slightly-too-aggressive lover, as in, keep going, but slow down. For the girl, it means, quit groping me there, I'm not ready. For the road, it means drive more slowly so you aren't DEAD.

    Keep up the posts, Dan!

  4. Right, I kept thinking of a way to say "these are not actually difficult to understand but just a little oddly phrased." Very Indian, anyway.

By the way, the one I missed that I really wish I had gotten was:
"When the going gets tough, Bro gets going!"
